The correlation between nursing education and improved patient outcomes has been studied for decades. A professor named Linda Aiken made the assumption that nurses were not being used to the full extent of their education and skill set; hoping that changes would be made to ensure that nurses are working at the top of their scope. Research focused on the correlation between education and patient outcomes shows that improved education and training resulted in improved patient outcomes. There has also been other studies that show the correlation between improved education and decreased mortality rates; showing 10% of nurses attaining a bachelors degree was associated with a 5% decrease in morbidity rates (Thomas, 2018).
