1. Gene environmental correlations can describe how a child will be raised and behaved according to their biological parents genotype. This is expressed by environmental living conditions. Three types of gene environmental correlations are; evocative, active, or passive. The one that I found interesting to read about was, passive G-E correlation. Passive gene environment correlation is based on the genotype that a child inherits from their parents and their environment. “For example, an intelligent parent is likely to create a home environment rich in educational materials and experiences” ( due to the fact that, that parent might have been influenced by their genetic inheritance or due to the environment they were raised in.

2. Gene environmental interactions is based on environmental factors and how genetic traits can influence the development of a human disease.Therefore, each person represents an interaction with their environment and their genetic makeup. A perfect example that was used in the “Discovering Child Development” book was the Phenylketonuria. “PKU is a single – gene recessive disorder ( carried on chromosome 12 ), and the gene for the disease interferes with the metabolism of a specific amino acid, phenylalanine” (Martin & Fabes, 2009, p.75). Although, the cause was due to a specific amino it also was genetically inherited.
