I am currently working on a project that involves finding a self-assessment tool specifically designed to identify individuals who may be reluctant to seek self-help, particularly those in lower socioeconomic classes, with a focus on people of color. To address the barriers and challenges that may hinder the implementation of such a self-assessment tool for these specific groups, I propose the following strategies:
Firstly, it is crucial to adopt a culturally tailored approach during the development of the tool. By taking into account the unique cultural backgrounds and experiences of these communities, the self-assessment tool can be designed to be culturally sensitive and relevant. This approach will enhance its resonance and engagement among the target population (Gopalkrishnan, 2018).
Secondly, ensuring accessibility and affordability is key. Making the self-assessment tool easily accessible and affordable for individuals in lower socioeconomic classes can be achieved through offering free or low-cost versions of the tool. Additionally, providing the tool in various formats, such as online and paper-based options, will cater to different preferences and technological access. Collaborating with social workers and healthcare professionals who can integrate the tool into their services will also enhance its accessibility and utilization (Sagar-Ouriaghli et al., 2019).
By implementing these strategies, we can overcome the barriers and obstacles that often prevent individuals of color and lower socioeconomic classes from utilizing self-assessment tools. This, in turn, will promote self-reflection, personal growth, and overall well-being.

For my project, I plan to increase student engagement for online nursing students by incorporating gaming as an active learning strategy. I have identified two key barriers to consider. These barriers include communication with leadership to implement the project and student engagement with the evaluations and gaming.
Communication with faculty and leadership must be persistent in successfully implementing an active learning strategy within online nursing education. A lack of adequate collaboration between faculty and leadership may alter the success of the intervention of the active learning strategy. I need to be assigned the appropriate course to prepare and create the material used for the gaming activity. To do this, I need to communicate openly with leadership about my project and ensure it is approved and can be accomplished.
Students need the desire to be engaged in their education for the active learning strategy to be successful (Ghasemi et al., 2020). If the student is not interested in the active learning strategy, the implementation will not benefit the student. The implementation will not be successful if the student does not participate in the active learning strategy. I have created Kahoot! games as an introduction to my courses in the last few semesters to determine if the students participate and their thoughts on including gaming as a learning strategy for nursing courses. This current semester I had 24 students respond, which was the most I ever had. I found that the timing of the announcement with the Kahoot! information determines the number of students that participate. These are all the things that I need to consider when starting my project.
