Throughout this course, many opportunities are available to post an initial response to a discussion topic as well as to respond to your classmate’s responses. After you have completed the reading, and without reviewing your classmate’s responses, post your initial response to the following Discussion.

Your post should be at least 200–250 words in length and should extend the discussion of the group supported by your course materials and/or other appropriate resources. After you have submitted your initial post, review some of your classmate’s posts and respond to at least two of your classmates.

Refer to your Discussion Board Rubric in Course Resources for specific grading explanation.

ABA specialization and certification

Resource: How do I find articles from the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis (JABA)?

Visit the Library: Using the advanced search option. Limit your search results to the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. Do a search for articles in your planned area of specialization/interest within the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. For example, if your specialization is developmental disabilities, type “developmental disabilities” into the search. If you are planning on going into counseling, you might put “contingency contracting” or “social skills training” in the search. Your article choice must be from the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis.

Your search should return a number of articles. Review the titles to find a topic that is of interest to you. Read the article. Then in your Discussion Board post, complete the following:

1. Provide a brief discussion of your area of planned specialization
2. Briefly discuss how you will use applied behavior analysis within your future career (using the article as an example of how you can apply behavior analytic principles in any career)
3. Discuss how certification can help you achieve your professional goals in your area(s) of interest
4. Describe one ethical guideline from this unit’s reading that you will need to follow in your future career. Provide an example of how you will meet this guideline.
