One of my favorite foods to consume is Salmon. Since the chemical composition could change depending on the type of fillet, I decided to go with the Wild Pacific salmon. My hypothesis is that this salmon fillets item contains Omega-3 fatty acids, protein and fats.
After conducting my research, I learned that this particular salmon contains proteins, fats, long chained omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), amino acids, potassium, iron, cholesterol and mercury. Salmon is also very high in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B12, vitamin B6, selenium, niacin, thiamine and phosphorus.
This is the EPA omega 3 fatty acid structure. It is composed of twenty carbon atoms with 5 carbon-carbon double bonds. This chemical is very beneficial to consume. As we learned this week, our bodies do not naturally produce omega-3 fatty acids. The only way to supply our bodies with this nutrient is through consumption.

A food that I enjoy is apples, I am currently eating one now. My hypothesis is that apples are comprised of carbohydrates and sugars (glucose) that give you energy. They are a healthy source of nutrients and energy.
My research stated that apples are mainly composed of carbs and water. (I didn’t think it mention water) and are rich in simple sugars, such as fructose, sucrose and glucose. The apple is broken into two parts, the skin and the pulp or flesh (inside) of the apple. The pulp of the apple is made of pectin, vitamin C, calcium and other minerals. The apple is comprised of over 300 substances.
One molecule found in an apple is flavonoids. Flavonoids are antioxidants that bind to proteins.
From what I have been told growing up as well as what I researched today, apples are beneficial to consume. Not all portions of the apple are 100% great for you, such as the seeds of the fruit, but you are still able to eat the entirety of the fruit, even if I never have; and probably never will!
